FAANG set — Pro and Career

Times classic

Conservative industries and anywhere plain is expected.

The Times classic resume template, compiled to a one-page PDF: The conservative default
A real compile of this template — not a mock-up.

Times, effectively — set with newtxtext, a modern equivalent of Times New Roman with better spacing and a proper set of small caps. The most conservative layout we ship, and the one least likely to be remarked on by anybody.

There is a real argument for that. Times is the face of default documents: it carries no signal at all, and in some industries carrying no signal is the correct signal. Finance, law-adjacent roles, government, defence, older and larger institutions — places where a resume that looks designed invites the question of why you spent time designing your resume. It is also the safest choice when you have no idea who will read it.

Practically it sits in the middle of the set: 11 point with six-tenths-inch margins holds a comfortable amount without being tight, and Times fits more characters per line than any sans at the same size, so it is denser than it looks. Written in-house for ResumeX: one page, single column, standard section names, real text, no headers, footers or page numbers. Part of the FAANG set — Pro or Career.
