FAANG set — Pro and Career

Palo Alto

Startup applications and senior individual contributors.

The Palo Alto resume template, compiled to a one-page PDF: Airy, startup-facing
A real compile of this template — not a mock-up.

Palatino, a humanist serif with wide open letterforms, set at 11 point with six-tenths-of-an-inch margins and a double rule under every heading. It is the most relaxed page in the FAANG set and the one that looks least like it came out of a template.

The reasoning is about audience. A hundred-thousand-person company screens resumes against a requisition; a forty-person startup has the founder reading them, and that reader is forming an impression of judgement and taste as much as checking boxes. A page that is legibly composed rather than maximally packed is an argument in itself, and Palatino's proportions carry it without anything so obvious as a colour or a photograph.

The double rules are the one flourish, and they are structural — they mark hierarchy, they do not decorate. The name is centred, which slows the top of the page down on purpose. You will fit less here than in Signal or Compact sans; that is the trade you are making. Written in-house: one page, single column, real text, no headers or footers. Part of the FAANG set, so Pro or Career.
