Elegant small caps
Anyone following Cracking the Coding Interview's advice.
This is the layout from Gayle Laakmann McDowell's Cracking the Coding Interview, credited in full on our licenses page. If you have prepared for big-tech interviews from that book and want the resume it describes, this is it rather than an imitation of it.
The header is unusual and worth understanding: your address sits top left, your name centred in letter-spaced small caps, your phone and email top right. It reads like correspondence rather than a form. Each role is then a three-column row — title on the left, employer centred, dates on the right — which lets a reader scan any one of those three down the page independently. Employment comes before Education, on the book's reasoning that once you have shipped anything, where you studied is no longer your headline.
It also keeps Technical Experience separate from Employment, so personal projects are not competing with jobs for the same bullets. Set with fontspec under xelatex, which is where the small caps come from. Single column in the sense that matters to a parser: those three-column rows are text on a line, not a table.
